Sandy has practiced law in Scottsdale since 1988, concentrating on family law. She is a trained mediator, having completed programs through the State Bar of Arizona, the Maricopa County Bar, the Court systems and the 40-hour Divorce Mediation Certification Training from the Erickson Institute of Mediation in Minnesota since 1993. As a Judge Pro Tempore from 1996-2002 and 2005 through the present, Sandy has presided over Court calendars, cases, and settlement conferences for the Maricopa County Family Court.
Sandy focuses on resolution and counsels her clients to conduct themselves in an honest, respectful manner while looking at long-term solutions for themselves and their children. At the same time, Sandy is a strong and devoted advocate for her clients, protecting and preserving their rights by approaching each matter undertaken with a view toward educating her clients about their choices and assisting them in resolving their problems. She offers a wide range of What You Need When You Need It™ services (also known as Unbundled or Limited Scope Legal Services), Mediation and other Alternative Dispute Resolution Services as alternative options, helping her clients resolve their family issues, protect their rights and assets, understand their options, and achieve their goals in a proactive and positive way.
Before becoming an attorney, Sandy was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone, West Africa in the 1970s, working with pre-school children. From 1984 to 1986 she was a Phoenix Police Department Reserve Officer. She worked her way through law school as a divorced single parent with a young daughter. During Law School she interned for the Arizona Senate, the Prescott City Attorney and Prosecutor, and Judge Rudolph Gerber in the Maricopa County Superior Court. She is married to her law partner, Mark Bregman, is the mother of two daughters, and is also a grandmother. She currently enjoys practicing Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
